 Hans Herbert

Hey dude! Tell me about yourself, where are ya, how old are ya, and what are ya driving?

Im Hans Herbert, Located around the Brainerd lakes area, 36 now (oooof) I race my GLTC prepped S2000, but usually have a revolving door of other fun street cars around.

Where are you racing and in what class?

I currently race in the Gridlife Touring Cup for Myriad Motorsports.

What is your current car set up?

Car is currently set up to compete in GLTC, 12.5-1 PW class. K24 built by ASM, car makes 206hp, weighs like 2770. Pretty simple setup, Fueltech FT600, KW suspension, AP brakes. The class is mostly about driver, so the car is stupid simple.

How did you get your start in racing?

I started racing in radar runs on snowmobiles when I was a kid, then snow cross, cross country, autox in cars, I’ve done some Baja off-road endurance stuff. Just all around really.

Ever had a big off/accident? How did you deal with that?

Had a big impact last year at Mid Ohio. Was one of the my fault, not my fault things. There was an incident in front of me that I couldn’t see until the last second, made a move to try to avoid it and ended up getting involved in it instead. I was pretty shaken up, and didn’t get out in another car until I was back door to door in GLTC a month later. In hindsight I should have gotten right back and and turned some laps. I was pretty scared in the car the whole time at PPIR for the next race. It wasn’t a good feeling.

What have you done or bought you wish you would have sooner?

I wish I would have gotten a trailer and a loft sooner. Made my life 400x better when it comes to racing.

What do you think is important to becoming a good driver?

I think the number one thing would Be to have a learning mindset. Even if you’re the fastest guy at your local track, you can always learn more. You never lose if you always choose to learn, but if you choose to not learn or have a closed mind, even a win on the track is a loss in your development.

What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out?

I wish someone would have told me I could do it, that whatever it is I wanted to do, or wanted to race in, that I could. I’ve been very blessed to have support around me, but starting younger with that support would have really helped.

Who are some drivers and cars that you look up to?

I really look up to our Team Principle Jake Jornstaad who enables all of us to be a part of something awesome with Myriad Motorsports. I also would like to give a shout out yo all our team members, Cody Ciesielski, Christian Klonowski, Gil Rossignol, Eric Peterson, Lucien Santiago, and Felipe Gonzalez. They are the people that keep our cars on track, and we would not absolutely sunk without them.

I really look up to our local Midwest grassroots heroes, Jeremy Swenson, Andy Smedgard, the guys who have gotten on the National state and competed and won. That isn’t easy to do out of your own pocket, but they have proven it can be done and I think that’s a huge thing for everyone to see that you don’t have to have the golden ticket of your parents money to be able to be successful. As far as pros go, Dan Binks, head of Corvette racing for years and years, really put that program on the map and made it credible, where before there wasn’t anything. I’ve always liked the team corvette drivers as well, Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnuson. I grew up liking Jeff Gordon and Michael Schumacher. I really envy some of the old time greats, Shelby, Parnelli Jones, Andretti, Ken Miles, etc. Back when the cost of getting on the big stage wasn’t so outrageous. Those guys really carried the torch of the American Racing programs in the past.

What are some achievements and awards you've accomplished in racing?

Ooof. Well I was PG Triple track shootout overall winner 2021 spring and fall. Podium at PG auto x this year, multiple time class winner at Morgan’s Motorplex events, Street Machines National Auto x winner 2021, Yellowstone off-road series race winner, instructor with Porsche, and this year joining the BIR driving school staff. I got a top 10 in GLTC 😂.

What's one thing everyone should bring to the track? (Besides a car and a helmet)

I think everyone should bring a friend. Another set of hands always helps, and our hobby should be shared with others!

Who are you other current sponsors?

  • Office Sign company
  • Hawk Brakes
  • Motul
  • Fueltech
  • Paradigm Performance
  • Mobile Tire Pros
  • Vibrant
  • Andres Safari Co

A big thanks goes out to my wife AJ who has enabled and encouraged me through my whole racing journey!

How did you get your start in racing?

I was working and hanging out with the guys from SpecOps
Motorsports. I would go to the track and support the guys from the
shop as they raced. I have wanted to race for a while but never pulled
the trigger. A 16 year old kid that would go to the track with us
secretly bought my race entry one night and the rest was history.

Where are you racing and in what class?
I race up and down the east coast. I have raced at the Buschur
Shootout 5 times. I took 1st place in Evo Stock Appearing in 2013,
2014, and 2022. I have raced countless Import Faceoffs and Street Car
Takeovers placing 1st place more often than not.

Ever had a big off/accident? How did you deal with that?

When I was 18 years old I was in a bad accident while street racing.
I almost killed myself, two of my best friends that were in the car,
and an innocent family that I crashed into. This is why I am strictly
a track racer. I have seen first hand the devastation caused from
street racing and I won't have anything to do with it.

What have you done or bought you wish you would have sooner?
The best purchase I have made for the Evo has been the ILR no money
shifter from Huy Tran. Not only is this a well crafted shifter but it
also relieves the stress while drag racing. Second would be the PPG
Dogbox. Third to that would be the Magnus dry sump system.

What do you think is important to becoming a good driver?
Seat time is key. Practice makes a well prepared driver. I also
believe a driver must know the ins and outs of his/her vehicle.
Drivers should know how everything works so that if something happens,
the driver can quickly react. This happened to me at the last
Shootout. During the final race of Stock Appearing, after my burnout
the throttle hung wide open. I had to jump out and fix it so that I
could continue the race. I fixed it, backed up, staged, and won the
race.

What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out?
Have a long term goal in mind and have a great team for support.
Long term goals will allow one to build their car right the first time
without spending unnecessary money.

Who are some drivers and cars that you look up to?

Guys like Ben Hochman, Dan Mergenthaler, Lucas English are the big
names that I look up to. Matt Franks and Tim Patrick inspired me in
the beginning.

Eric Ou Is a 23 year old out of Los Angles Ca. He can be found on instagram @Mkv.Soupra

Hey dude! Tell me about yourself, where are ya, how old are ya, and what are ya driving?

My name is Eric Ou, I’m 23 years old and I drive an A90 Supra 3.0 in Los Angeles, CA.

What is your current car set up?

Currently the car is set up as a daily driver with track capabilities.
How did you get your start in racing?
I’ve started racing back when I was in China racing diesel powered go karts in outdoors tracks when I was about 14. When I’m in the states I usually play racing arcades games or simulators and a little of indoor gokarting.
Where are you racing and in what class?
  • I usually race at all of the ‘Willows here in CA with @corsa. We rotate between Buttonwillow, Big Willow, and Streets of Willow. I would consider myself street class.
Ever had a big off/accident? How did you deal with that?
I have not had an accident yet besides a couple of dirt runoffs while on track.
What have you done or bought you wish you would have sooner?
A mod I wish I could have done first was definitely my suspension mod. I currently have HKS Hipermax IV coilovers in and it is definitely a night and day difference in the car’s handling capabilities.
What do you think is important to becoming a good driver?
Something that is important as a driver is having all of your fundamentals extremely solid. You cannot expect to improve as a driver if you skip out on honing down fundamentals like steering, acceleration, and braking.
What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out?
Some advice I wish I would’ve have received when I started was get to know your car first. All of its pros, cons, quirks, advantages, and disadvantages. Then start learning and exploring the tracks that you normally go to in detail. After all of that, then you can focus on honing down speed because you’ll be truly comfortable in not only your car, but the entire track and can manipulate it to your advantage.
Who are some drivers and cars that you look up to?
A driver I definitely look up towards is definitely my brother, he was the one who got me into racing and has helped with some mods and learning of the car on and off the racetrack.
A car I look up to is definitely counterspacegarage’s daily driven inspired track Supra. It has a mix of daily driving amenities like an extra subwoofer in the back, stocks seats, and subtle aero added to a stock Supra which is the style that I am going for.

Nate LaCroix is a 28 year old out of Rhode Island, he can be found on instagram @401nate
Hey dude! Tell me about yourself, where are ya, how old are ya, and what are ya driving?
Hey man! I’m up in the chilly Northeast region and recently found a passion for HPDE. I’ll be entering into some time trials this season as I have dove head first into this passion. I’m currently 28yrs old driving a 2011 Mitsubishi Evo GSR.
What is your current car set up?
Currently the car is on a stock driveline and motor. I am running an MHi18k on pump 93 making 406whp on the street map and closer to 370 for the track. This is in order to keep things safe and temps down. It has all the supporting Bolton’s for the turbo including a surge tank setup as fuel starvation is a very real issue. The suspension is ohlins 10k front 11k rear with eibach swaybars, super pro rck and endlinks. For getting the stopping done, I have currently braided lines, motul fluid, girodisk 2 piece rotors front and rear and are switching to glok pads. This past season I did a best of 1:53 at Palmer motorsports ccw with stock suspension (virtually no camber) and toyo r1r’s. The goal is to reach a 1:47 with re71rs’s and the suspension/camber upgrades.
How did you get your start in racing?
Through HPDE events where I started paying attention to the fast drivers in advanced groups. At these events I have no problems approaching fast drivers to introduce myself and talk setup, lines etc. that is where I learned about a different club. COMSCC. I have signed up for events with COMSCC this 2023 season to get into competitive time trials.
Where are you racing and in what class?
I will be competing in time trials through COMSCC to start. Time trials will take place At Thompson motorsports and Palmer motorsports. Based off COM’s worksheet, I will likely be competing in modified street class T80.
Ever had a big off/accident? How did you deal with that?
Fingers crossed not yet. Last event of this past season I boiled the motul brake fluid (my error) and lost brakes entering a roughly 120* turn at roughly 85mph. I had enough brakes to downshift high in RPMs to blow my line but shed enough speed to avoid the tirewall. Mind you I also lucked out as it had a good amount of negative camber and turned to a bit of an incline.   What have you done or bought you wish you would have sooner?
Track time!!! Nothing beats seat time on the track no matter what you are driving!
What do you think is important to becoming a good driver?
Reiterating my previous response. SEAT TIME SEAT TIME SEAT TIME!!! Another major factor is keeping ego’s in check. Everyone wants to believe they have the skills to drive like Verstappen or Hamilton, however there is a reason they got to their position. They took away many lessons learned and pointer given to them over many many years to always be open to “how can I become a better driver”.
What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out?
Bite the bullet, put nerves aside, leave no room for excuses not to. Nike said it best “just do it”.  It’s easy to think of a million reasons not to, but the moment you take the leap into your first day… two things will happen.
  • 1) your hooked, it consumes you and all of your thoughts
    2) you learn it’s fun, but not something you see yourself pursuing heavily.
Who are some drivers and cars that you look up to?
    To many to list.
    Tommi makinen
    Colin Mcrea
    Travis Pastrana
    Max Versteppan
    _________________________________________________________________

Hey dude! Tell me about yourself, where are ya, how old are ya, and what are ya driving?

40 😭 2005 Lancer Evo 8 RS and can be found at @

    rs_sigma_ on instagram

What is your current car set up?

Car has a built ShepTrans driveline, suspension, wheels/tires, bigger turbo, cams, E85, stock block

How did you get your start in racing?

Fist event ever, was 2008 at Tirerack. They did an autoX event on their small course. Now I do TrackSprints at the Autobahn County Club

Where are you racing and in what class?

I mainly race at Autobahn or do autoX events with TSSC

Ever had a big off/accident? How did you deal with that?

No accidents. I hope I never do. I try not to push past 80%

What have you done or bought you wish you would have sooner?

I wish I would have gotten seat-time earlier. And bought more events

What do you think is important to becoming a good driver?

To be a good driver needs patience, accept your short-comings, be open to suggestions, leave your ego behind, never stop learning, understand the course, your car, and braking

What advice would you give yourself if you were just starting out?

I would tell someone, power is meaningless at the circuit. Most cars are quick enough to have fun. Learning the course, and seat time, will aid you more than power or any mods

Who are some drivers and cars that you look up to?

I typically don’t look up to people, but if I had to choose, definitely Andy Smedegard and Robb Wiedare

    Any awards or achievements?

I’ve placed 3rd twice at the TrackSprints, but finally took 1st in my respective class last June. That was huge for me.

Being at the track in any capacity was nothing more than a dream for many years, my life just wasn’t conducive for it.

So the fact I even have done anything on a road course, I am forever grateful. And getting a legit win, was absolutely amazing for me

Granted for some, my level of “racing” is nothing, but for me, it’s everything I every asked for
