Product Information 135mm outer diameter, 96mm bolt pitch circle diameter, connects the drive shaft to the output shaft of the transmission, common source of drivetrain vibration The flex disc sits between the drive shaft and transmission. It's main purpose is to allow flex in the drive train and to reduce vibration. It is common for the joint rubber to deteriorate over time from torque stress and heat. We recommend that this joint should be inspected during regular services on the vehicle for wear. If wear is found we highly recommend that you replace the joint before it fails completely. Please check the extended fitment guide before ordering this joint. Drive Shaft Flex Joint A drive shaft flex joint kit also known as a guibo or flex disc consists of a flexible rubber disc that connects sections of the drive shaft to absorb vibrations and torque shock. It helps reduce stress on the drive shaft and other drivetrain components by allowing a slight amount of flexibility, which improves smoothness in power delivery from the transmission to the wheels. Drive Shaft Flex Joint Failure Symptoms Vibrations While Accelerating: A worn or damaged flex joint often leads to increased vibrations during acceleration, as it can no longer absorb torque properly Clunking or Thudding Noises: Loose or deteriorated flex joint material can cause clunking or thudding sounds, especially when shifting gears or accelerating, due to metal components coming into direct contact Uneven or Jerky Acceleration: A failing flex joint disrupts smooth power transfer, causing jerky or uneven acceleration as it loses its ability to flex properly About Genuine BMW The original parts used by BMW to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine BMW” brand. When ordering a Genuine BMW part you are guaranteed to get the same part that you would pick up from your local dealerships part department. Genuine BMW parts have been built to BMW’s stringent standards and are the same quality of the original parts used to build your Ultimate Driving Machine. You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your BMW are not necessarily manufactured by BMW. No cause for concern, as BMW designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for BMW for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine BMW parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a BMW logo. Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.
