A failing wheel bearing will make a lot of tell tale sounds. A good example of this is a humming sound at highway speeds. Additionally, a bad wheel bearing will also make groaning or clunking sounds while turning. If your BMW's wheel bearings are making this noise we highly recommend immediate replacement.
Please note: The spindle nut must be replaced when installing. The spindle nut is removed with a special thin wall 46mm socket. Please see CTA-A433 for the necessary axle nut socket. There is also a special tool for helping aid the installation of the wheel hub onto the stub shaft. Please see CTA-1720 for the special installation tool. The spindle nut must be torqued to 290Nm (~215 ft lbs). Once torqued, stake the axle nut and install the new wheel bearing cap.
